Axelle Salvage is a Luxembourg-based artist whose work is composed of vibrant, whimsical characters, explores human behavior and societal themes, often expressed through animals and imaginary creatures.
In 2020, she created a commemorative artwork marking 30 years of Luxembourg’s maritime law, which was donated to the Luxembourg Ministry of Economy’s Maritime Affairs department.
In 2024, she exhibited at the Waves for Change Gala in Atlanta, organized by the non-profit organizations What Water and Unspoken Angels, alongside esteemed artists such as Barthélémy Toguo, a UNESCO Artist for Peace, and SUMO, a prominent Luxembourgish artist.
Furthering her engagement with socially conscious art, Axelle co-coordinated the Water is Life artistic residency in November 2024 as part of the What Water program. Held at Bandjoun Station in West Cameroon — an artist space founded by Barthélémy Toguo — the residency brought together nine artists from Europe and Cameroon to raise awareness of the global water crisis through art and culture.
In addition to her conceptual work, Axelle has honed her painting skills through various projects, including a series of six paintings celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise. While this series serves as a personal training exercise, it is exclusively showcased on her Instagram.
Currently, she is working on a new series titled Temptation, which explores one of humanity’s earliest subversive emotions — desire — and the controversy it evokes.
